About the enthusiast
Although I'm certain that this isn't how movements start, I want to start a movement. I want to celebrate enthusiasm not just in the extraordinary, but in the everyday too. I want to encourage people rebel against this obnoxious outdated notion that caring is tragic, and instead to revel in the fact that something somewhere makes their heart sing.
Whether you’re enthusiastic about something in particular - Palm Springs architecture, world peace, or really really good donuts for example - or you’ve got a general enthusiasm for stuff, I want us to be unabashedly, unashamedly proud of loving something with all of our heart or all of our head (or both!) Too often we’re told that enthusiasm is embarrassing, childish, unrealistic, corny. We’re told that being ‘extra’ is bad and that being seen as ‘too much’ is something to avoid, but we’re not allowed to be ‘basic’ either. In contrast, I think enthusiasm is what makes the world go round; and I believe that now more than ever, it's time to show off your passion, your joie de vivre, your unbreakable connection with something; and maybe even encourage others to do the same.
We’re going to release your inner enthusiast. Ground control to Major Tom, commencing countdown; engines ON.
So, how are we doing this?
